sad day for ruger..input needed

The hammer link on my Redhawk broke. I'm not sure what's wrong with your revolver, but I know that I was able to replace the part myself (I am not gifted in mechanical ways) and the part was $3.00, delivered to my door in a few days. Good service from Snapshots in Quebec.

ah thanks, i wasnt sure which place to contact, was hoping there was an ontario one but no luck...

im thinking transfer bar because ive read thats what happens when it slides up and gets hung up under the firing pin, and theres a rattle inside.... time to open it up and see

well after not even owning it for a month, not even out to the range yet, the transfer bar on my Vaquero seems to be broken, from what i read i thought they had fixed this problem.... $650 paperweight for now...

never had a firearm issue before, would it be best to leave it intact and wait while it goes for warranty(if even able to) or to open her up and find the broken piece and just replace it?

Damn, that would made me mighty angry.

I swear by Ruger revolvers.

If it's not something dead simple, I would of sent it back for warranty repair.

Scott,

Which Redhawk was it... 4.2in barrel perhaps?

How long have you used it, until this happened?

Regards,
Dan

well in the midst of putting back together, i stumbled on a thread that said it may have been the base pin outta place... talk about a p!ss off after having it stripped... but now heres the kicker.... the small screw infront of trigger guard is a free spinner, never forced it or anything, jut never tighten back up on reassembly... would anyone know who carries just the screws????

Mine is the S/S 5.5" model, and it happened within a few months of my purchase about 4 years ago. I've not have any re-occuring problems with it since though.

...the transfer bar on my Vaquero seems to be broken...

Not much of a description to help determine the next step to take.

Point the muzzle to the sky, if the action cycles the culprit is probably the base pin or base pin nut.

ya sorry for lack of words, it was late and really should not have been doing this at 3am, turned out to be the base pin just now where it shoulda been, but in the process i now have a stripped or damaged front frame screw,

Are the screws all the same length?

lol of course not thatd make things easy, each of the 3 are different sizes, front being the smallest, took it out and looks that one side of the screw has some flattened threads, hoping the hole doesnt need retapping.... or it may stay as a paperweight

Same as the blackhawks.

im just surprised how easy it was to disable it this way, i saw ruger as the workhorse firearm, but now i found its achilles, the screws.

thanks for all the inputs,,

merry christmas and happy shootin

Was going to buy a 4.2 GP100, but now you all have me thinking about that decision.

Stick with S&W?

M

i may have just had a bad screw.... (no puns) i have no idea what happened to this thing...

theres a piece missing and its like it has a red core or something

well ordered one up and a spring kit aswell so we shall see in a week or so if she will be my workhorse or a stable horse
