Hey guys

I took my M14 project down to the range yesterday, I was shooting 12" groups (maybe more ) at 100 yards. (It was also pinching brass btwn the op rod handle and the stock every 3 rounds.)

What effect would a bent barrel have on a rifle, wondering if I bent the barrel hammering off the flash hider...

Makes me appreciate my bolt gun a lot more.

(M14s in an AKM stock, Millet DMR scope, Stainless op rod spring guide, gas lock front sight. Two coils clipped off ejector and extractor spring. Stock barrel length with flash hider removed)

What does clipping off coils from those springs do?
Never heard of that but I'm not gun wizard either.
Do have an M14s that didn't eject real well until I used proper grease in the proper spots now have the brass going 7 feet straight out the side.
BTW I had to hammer off my flash hider as well and didn't seem to hurt my groups. 2 inches at 100 yds with out gas shims or unitizing the gas system.
More than likely has something to do with the stock, optics maybe?
My sks can't hit anything now that it put on a new stock, scope, mount etc.
Hope you get it figured out

First thing I would do is shoot it with the same ammo using the original iron sights.

My guess is a scope/mount problem

I like that theory cause it would be easyish to fix. Everything does seem snung on the rail, scope side though. If something was out of line wouldn't the scope adjustments make up for it? I'm not sure what else could be out. Maybe i'll try a different scope and rings.

AE 150 shoots very poorly in mine, too. About 8" on a good day. Save the brass, and reload with 150 grain sierras on top of 41 grains of IMR 4895. With that load, I can manage 1.5 inch groups easily at 100 yards.

I don't know what you did with your flash-hider. Check for it's alignment. If you don't have the tool for it, look inside the FH for copper kisses.
