Sad news for action shooting in Ontario.

Great ODPL match held at Galt today in Pete’s honour and the icing on the cake was that all of the proceeds went to the Guelph Humane Society as per his family’s wishes.

I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling a bit mixed up. At times today I felt Pete’s larger-than-life presence and at other times, a very significant void with his absence...it’s just not easy to believe he is gone.

It’s not a simple task to figure out why Pete’s passing has had the impact it has had on me but I suspect it is because he was the kind of shooter/person that I strive to be. Like all of us I’m pretty sure he wasn’t perfect; however, when I was new and had no experience with respect to 3gun he was one of a few who helped me.
I wish I could thank Pete in person right now but I can’t - the best I can do is encourage you guys to be like Pete. Be humble. Be the kind of shooter that a new gun guy or gal should meet. Be the kind of shooter that others tell good stories about when they are gone. Pete didn’t leave a huge monument and he won’t be written about in any history books. But he left his mark on me.

Thank you Pete.

Many thanks to Galt and the Handgun Section executives who allowed us to donate all the fees to Pete's charity of choice.
I thank everyone who came out and shot Galt's Peter Degan Memorial Match and to those who donated extra.

We raised over $850 in memory of "Procedural" Pete. Pete's humour and attitude will be missed.
