Sad - seeing all the handgun sales

My opinion is that when Canada was in its infancy the right to firearms for its citizenry should have been enshrined in law . Like the USA.
I am however in favour of not letting mentally unwell people ( doctors consent ) or criminals have possession .

There may be defensible logic in that, but in practice the US turned guns into a religion. Like literally, God, guns, and the US constitution are all on the same footing.

Even the aforementioned keeping guns from mental patients, pretty much any attempt at common sense gun laws runs into a brick wall built by absolutists.

In a way, it's actually the cause of our current legal dilemma.

When the CPC returns to power , all of Trudeau's gun grab policies will be reversed as the CPC has gone to bat many times for firearm owners . It will never be the wild west of concealed carry like in some states in the U.S. ; but firearm regulations will be simplified by the CPC , and return to similar regulations that were in place when PM Harper was in power .

this is not the wild west of ccw even in the usa as it constitutionnally approved in any states ... return to similar regulations that were in place when harper was in charge is not enough in my opinion but if you are happy with what and come to cry in 20 years why not ...

I don't buy it. Most people don't care either way. Liberals love to fake a consensus.

You are totally correct . Many Canadians do not like guns because they have no idea of the current Canadian gun laws , and base their decisions on what they see going on in the U.S. . Most gun crime in Canada is committed with smuggled firearms , but the Liberal propaganda specialists always leave that fact out , and blame it on law abiding and vetted Canadian firearm owners . If most Canadians actually knew how heavily firearms are regulated in Canada , they would be okay with private firearm ownership . Trudeau frames gun ownership as bad , and Canadians believe him .

What I hate to see is the price gouging that's going on. Personaly Haven't bought or sold a single thing since the Sh*tshow started

I'm envious of those who already have their handgun collection, purchased during sane times. After an excruciating process to schedule my training course and wait for my RPAL to arrive during the height of covid, fscking Trudeau then turns around and says no more handguns for you. I've had to go from 0 to 100 learning everything I can about handguns from forums and Youtube, figuring out what handguns I may want to own, and trawl every vendor site daily looking over rapidly changing 'in stock' inventory, grabbing anything I could remotely see myself enjoying in the future. All of it at inflated and ever increasing prices, having never handled anything, and with the knowledge that if I don't like something I've bought I'm stuck with it because I can never sell it (thanks again Trudeau, really appreciate that last point). I have no choice but to pay the high prices or never get another chance. I've resigned myself to just buy whatever interests me if it's within my means, and not think about the cost too much right now. It's an investment in my future hobby. Fsck it. As midlife hobbies (crisis?) go, it's still cheaper than a Ferrari.

Bottom lie: A majority of Canadians hate guns and don't have a problem with the gov't's way of gun control.

Pretty much end of story.

"But it has nothin' to do with stopping crime/violence", blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, we get it. But they don't, and it's them we can't convince!!!!

It's not that they don't "get it", it's that they simply do not care at all, not one bit. They don't care about legal gun ownership because it does not effect them in any way.
