Saddle ring Marlin cros bolt safety delete.

I have a Marlin 1895M and don't quite "get" why people don't like the cross bolt safety. I've used it for years, taken a small pile of deer and have NEVER had an issue with the safety. I could say the same thing about almost ANY rifle used for hunting, they all have safeties, does anyone forget to push it OFF before shooting? Really, your finger pushes a tiny button just a LITTLE bit..... safety OFF. Does anyone, bolt, pump or semi, NOT have their safety ON during a hunt?????

Half #### is all the safety you need on a lever. Two safeties us one too many.

Perhaps 2 is too many, but I prefer the cross bolt to the 1/2 ####. I'm far more familiar using a cross bolt as most (all) of my rifles have one.

Do you shoot a lever much? If you did you would know why the cross bolt is not needed. In order to #### the rifle thou need to pull party the half #### anyways so why not just leave it on half #### or drop the hammer all together. And gun is safe.

Handi-Rifles haven't got a safety and I'm not worried when I hunt with mine - no need to #### the hammer before you have it on target. On my bolt action rifles I use the safety, it's right where it should be, under the thumb. But I've got a Beartooth Mercantile saddle ring safety delete kit I'm going to use on my Marlin 1894 because the cross-bolt safety is in the wrong place and with the half-#### hammer it's redundant.

I just installed a Beartooth delete on my 1894

Pull off the stock and tighten down the little allen head set screw in the receiver. Holds the safety firmly in the fire or safe position.

That sure tidied up the Marlin looks.
Thanks for the info.

Now to decide, plain or install the rattle?

Plain... The small bearing & screw that hold that safety delete in place, isn't made to have any real amount of weight pulling on the delete...

Just ordered one with the brass ring. Will look sharp with my curly maple stock on my 336.Not intending to use the ring for carrying etc.so it's just for rustic looks.
