I'm going to be mounting a scope to my Norinco soon and I'm deciding on a mount. I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two mounts. At the risk of sounding like a knob : I know a lot of people on CGN preach the ARMS mount but I've read about a lot of people with jamming issues because it's so low (brass between the mount and the op-rod) and having to replace bolt parts with USGI - don't really feel comfortable stripping the bolt myself and there are no M14 smiths on my side of the country, as far as I know). Any one here run into this? I'm leaning towards the SADLAK mount for now...

I had a newer full rail ARMS 18 on my Springfield M1A for a few years without a hitch ... however, went outland one day and the rifle in a padded bag got bounced around purdy hard being pulled behind my skidoo and my scope was off ... I tried shimming it and was still hitting 6 inches high ... I did change the scope and same thing so I took it off. I put on an old style split rail and no issues ... so what the hey. I misplaced the newer style rail and eventually found it missing the button at the front ... ARMS sent me a new one free of charge. :D

Searching for a Canadian Dealer.

I am a happy owner of a M14 Shorty and have also been looking for a decent mount.

I have found a Canadian ARMs 18 dealer online but haven't been succesful in finding a Canadian dealer for Sadlak.

Can someone in the know please send me a pm or email of where I can get one?

There not Canadian but treelinem14.com sells the SADLAK mounts along with some of there other products. I just ordered some tools, a NM guide rod and some USGI hand guards (2 for $5.50 a piece!!!). They're easy to deal with and will ship up to $500 in product across the boarder as opposed to Brownells $100...same restrictions apply to barrels and such though.

Did you look at the McCann Industry's? I've got that, first rate, and I've tried 4, including ARMS.

Looks light..kinda sucks that the 1913 rail is a separate piece...some red loctite should fix that though haha. Does anyone sell them in Canada, or did you order from the states? (I like to buy Canadian when I can, but if no one has what I'm looking for then...you know.)

That's the type I want to stick with. Although I do like the idea of the mount from M14.ca (casm or something) I don't want to eliminate my rear sight. I'll likely only use a scope for hunting season then use iron's the rest of the time.

They do make a full length rail, I used the rail off an aluminum mount, cut off and ground down. I got mine from them in the US. No problems.

That certainly works doesn't it!

I prefer, and it is my opinion only, to keep my M14 as close to original as possible.

Ya, I'm thinking the same on mine...loosely basing the looks on the M21. I like simplicity.

I just recently learned that both of these mounts allow use of iron sites via a groove the length of mount on the bottom...very cool. But I would like to keep my 30mm main tube, 40mm obj. scope as low as possible. Is there anyone that is using a similar set up with their rig?
