Safari binocs

I'm off on a 10 day 'photo' safari to Kenya and Tanzania next weekend.
There will be four of us...I'm thinking we'll need at least two, if not three sets of binoculars...
Anyone have any experience with the Steiner Merlin line...
I was thinking of the 8 X 32 or 8 X 42...seem pretty compact and decent quality.
Obviously, if price were no object, we'd ALL have top of the line Leicas or similar, but that's just not in the budget!
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I have tried them and they seem to be quite good for the price. If I was looking for something in that price range I would pick up a pair.

Pick them up and do a good follow up reprt for us when you get back
