safariland 6004 holsters?

These are great holsters. I have one for a Glock. These and the Safariland Raptor are some of the best duty holsters in my humble opinion.

As far as the light question, I think you have answered this question for yourself: "i would rather have a light compatible holster just in case i would ever need to use a light on my pistol".

If that is the case, then definitely get a model that takes a light, otherwise you are going to have to take the light off if you want to holster your pistol, which means you will be leaving the light at the office.

It sounds like you are a CF member, so a Tac Light is not just a toy for you. Get a light and get a holster that supports your light so you can actually use it.

A lot of military types go with this is a "Foliage Green":

You can order them from Copsplus.com in the States. They have a good system for ordering the exact model you want:

And use the drop menu to pick your exact gun and light model.

Customs will charge you duty on a holster like this ordered across the line (30 bucks?)

Whatever it is you need this for, take care and stay safe.

You're SOL for finding a decent light mount and a 6004 holster that will accept it for either of those pistols.
Surefire did make a half ass mount that enabled lights to be mounted to non-railed pistols, but they are no longer being offered for the Browning or Sig 225/226. You might be able to find one on Ebay. Safariland does not offer a 6004 holster for Brownings with light mounts. I'm pretty sure that they do a SIg one, but it is a bit of a special order.
The holster pictured above is neither a 6004 or a Raptor. It looks more like an old style 6280. Those are probably going to be phased and replaced with the new ALS retention system.
CGN sponsor Dave's Surplus just got a gigantic order of Safariland stuff in and offer CGN member and military discounts. Tell them what you are looking for and they will get you sorted out.

The holster in the pictures is a 6280, like this:

I've got a couple of these, one for an HK one for a Glock. They are Level II, holsters not Level III. Good for duty pistol shooting, as they are fast and very simple to use. You will never look at a holster with snaps again.

6004 is a "tactical" (thigh) holster. Every 6### holster, whether duty or tactical, uses the SLS (Self Locking System) system, a rotating hood that pushes forward with your thumb. I guess that is what I am saying when I say "these" holsters... SLS holsters.

Raptor holsters are 6### models as well, but they use a kind of modular construction (have a look at the link). They also employ the SLS system.

As the poster above notes, the ALS (Automatic Locking System) holsters are the new breed of Safariland gear.

Definitely go for one of these if you have the cash and you can find one you like. The 6304 and 6305 models are probably what you want to look at. They are the replacements for the 6004 and 6005 models (the "5" models have a quick release leg harness).

The Cops Plus entry for 6304 is here:

And 6305 here:

The price is like $20 more U.S.

Dave's surplus has 6004 holsters on their website for $184.99

That is not too bad a deal. Getting one that fits your gun and your light though... that is a different story.

I bought my raptor holster with the matt black finish off ebay for $40. Brand new.
Ditto this. There are tons of awesome deals on tactical and duty gear on ebay if you watch it closely and know your prices. I've bought lots of gun-related stuff on ebay over the years. I bought one Safariland holster at a good price where the lady threw in a Safariland belt (3105) and mag pouch (77-83) for free!

Safariland stuff tends to be brutally overpriced, especially in a place like Canada where the market for such things is tiny. Do your homework.
