So despite my very anal efforts to prevent metal on metal contact with any of my rifles, I noticed last night that my AR15 has had the parkerizing scuffed off along the very edge of my front fixed sight. Rather than stripping the whole thing and re-parkerizing it, does anyone have any suggestions for quick fixes to prevent rust?

You wouldn't have to strip it to parkerize. However, a bit of cold bluing will cover the metal and give some rust protection.

Wow - a safe kiss on a tool - you ARE anal. ;)

I ground down the bayo lug on my FSB to fit my rail, and have actually never applied anything to it other than a light kiss of oil. No rust yet! Granted, I live in Alberta, so humidity isn't really a factor.

A sharpie marker helps hide it at least...

You should have two AR15s. One to use and show the use it has seen and another to keep in a hermetically sealed case so everyone can see how little you use it.
