So I’m sure I’m not alone in these trying times but I’ve bought several pistol frames with the intent to finish them in the future and given that most are literally a barrel and a frame do the same safe storage laws apply? I’ve got no other parts for them at this time and it seems kinda silly putting a trigger lock on something without a trigger, any info is appreciated

6 An individual may store a restricted firearm only if

-(a) it is unloaded;

-(b) it is

--(i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device and stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into, or

--(ii) stored in a vault, safe or room that has been specifically constructed or modified for the secure storage of restricted firearms and that is kept securely locked; and

-(c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in

--(i) a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into, or

--(ii) a vault, safe or room that has been specifically constructed or modified for the secure storage of restricted firearms and that is kept securely locked.

Unlike NR, there is no allowance for "removal of the bolt or bolt-carrier"; so it doesn't matter that it is just a frame. Easiest option is to lock them all in a safe; then you don't need to "rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device" (note, it doesn't have to be a trigger lock; many people use a cable lock through the mag well). Keep in mind that the legal bar for what is a safe is quite low. Pretty much anything metal with a lock (but don't take my advice as I am not a firearms lawyer).

Yes. You need a trigger lock even if there is no trigger…. (Or put in safe)

A striped ar15 receiver doesn’t even have a trigger gaurd to attach a trigger lock. So I used a cable lock through the trigger hole….

I’ve got a lock on it, thanks for quoting the actual laws I kinda figured I’d have too but just wanted to make sure
