Hello,

I have the chance for partial trade of my 1942 91/30 (ATI sporterized) towards a much nicer looking 1940 Finnish Capture (SA marked) tomorrow. I have over 800 FMJ rounds for my Mosin and would hate to not have anything to shoot it from. Then again, I always like it when I don't blow my face off too.

I'm getting some conflicting information on whether I could/should shoot surplus 7.62x54R from a Finn? If any Mosin-Nagant experts could weigh in I would appreciate it!

its fine safe to shoot. Some of the early finn rebarreled guns were chambered in 7.62x53.5 and are .308 bore .but most were rechambered during the winter war due to the capture of allot of Russian ammo. Most finn mosins like the heavy ball better than the usual surplus lite ball

No........... the model 27 is .308-.309 bore as well. The Finn's usually stamped a "D" on the chamber to designate it was safe for Soviet ammo..........Harold
