The title 'bout says it all. I'd like to shoot my Krag but not blow it up. It has a brand new barrel on it but it's the action I'm worried about...I'd rather not reload. Any information will be helpful.

It's 6.5 x 55 Swedish...I read that one about the .308 Krag conversion-but I don't think it will be conclusive until a rifle blows up...I have not heard of that happening yet. Maybe I should ask if whether or not the Norwegians used a reduced load in these rifles...Or just read up on reloading for it.

Well...I guess I'm mistaken but according to the gunsmith who re-barreled it, 6.5x55 it definately is now...And I know that the original chamber would accommodate Swedish ammunition. I'm just having trouble believing that it's only capable of shooting "reduced loads". If that's the case then it's going down the road. Is there any reference on the original pressures for this rifle's correct ammo? (I think this is turning into a reloading question-my apologies to the moderator(s))

you can use winchester, remington federal igman loads in a Norwegian Krag. i wouldn't reccomend Norma or Swedish surplus(even that might befine, but haven't tried it), but otherwise you'll be fine
