Has anyone used Safest Rust Remover on firearms? Will it work? Also have heard that "weasel piss" can be used to cleanup old firearms? What is this and where can one get it? Thanks a bunch!

You just live trap a weasel and eave his cage over a bucket, and collect the pee.

You may need to strain it, as he will crap in there too.

Use heavy gloves when you handle them, as weasels are smelly and nasty!

Ask a lawyer to piss in a bucket...

Seriously though I expect some old-timer was pulling your leg with the weasel piss suggestion.

Any rust remover will also remove bluing.
Best I've found is Hoppes #9 on 0000 steel wool. I used to just use oil but saw the Hoppes recommended and gave it a try. Cleans old guns very well. Removes dried oil and tarnish that Varsol doens't even touch.

Go to Home Hardware or Canadian Tire and get EVAPO-RUST it has an orange lable and is less than $10 a letre here in alberta I used it on an old doubble shotgun that had been left in a boiler room for 30 years and after 24 hours it came out dull grey. you will have to reble though. and the by product is compleatly safe you can mix it 9:1 water to evapo rust and spray it on your lawn (it introduces Iron to your soil) great stuff I use it in my shop all the time and it's cheaper than any other rust remover. Sorry for the ad but this stuf is great.

X 3 on the weasel piss description. It is what the farmers use for a slang term to describe penetrating fluid, like loosenall, break free, etc.

Thanks guys. I thought weasel piss was WD40, but then when I heard reference to working on old firearms with it (WP) I thought it ment some other penetrating oil/sovent mixture. I was told that Safest Rust Remover sold by an American Co. under the web site SafestRustRemover.com is often used by the people who restore old rusted cars.
