I have a model 98 9.3x57 that I got from Tradex and want to change the military trigger to either a low rise model 70 type or go to the Timney trigger with side safety (kind of leaning the Timney way).I was wondering if I choose the Timmney what happens with the original safety does it just stay on the bolt or is removed?? and is he Timmney basically a bolt in operation with some stock inletting or is there more modiifications needed to the bolt

There's one pin to remove to take the old trigger off, and you use the same pin to put the Timney back on. There's also a set screw that will need to be tightened. If you're lucky, it will work fine without any further adjustment. There's a set of instructions that come with the trigger, read them carefully.

I would leave the old safety on the bolt; it's handy when you want to field strip, and if you take it off it leaves an unsightly hole in the shroud.

Thank you, so what do you think is the better option, the Timmney with side safety or Timmney trigger with no side safety but use the Model 70 style safety

I like safeties that block the striker. The side button also requires a little more wood to be removed. Either style is effective, so it comes down to personal preference.

I went with the Timney with side safety because the model 70 style safety would take some gunsmithing on the bolt and the Timney will require just a little stock inletting which I can do
