Anybody know if the Norinco T54 lever will work? I bought a nice Tokagypt but all that's wrong is the safety lever is broken. Not like it's important as I bought it as a "safe queen" not a range gun. The gun functions and fires fine without it but it would be nice to get it back together the way it came out of the factory. I seen other Tokagypt pics on various sites with the same problem.

The Norinco looks similar but there are two screws on either side of the lever which mine does not have. I don't know if they are for the safety or not.

I think I can just get the old one welded and re-blued and it should be ok, but if I can find a complete lever it would be a bonus.

No, different part. I have both guns and if I can find I can send you Norinco part for free (I took it off and welded the hole). The main problem is that I don't remember where I put this junk (chinese safety parts)....

Original Tokarev design doesn't have safety and it's not important component. Unless it's cosmetic issue, I'd never bothered to put it back.

Thanks. Good to know it's not the same. I got a buddy who's a welder so I'll see if he feels comfortable doing such a small piece. If not I know a smith who can probably do it but I'm sure he'll charge a lot.

Yeah, I guess certain contries required a safety. I know ones imported to the US sold as new required a safety adapted. The Romanian (or Polish) one came with a safety as well as the Hungarian Tokagypts. Real Soviet Russia ones of course didn't have a safety since they weren't in service too long after WWII (early-mid 50's replaced by the Marakov).
