Gentlemen,
It seems that there was a problem with the safeties on production line M1 Garands. It's a good thing that they caught before massive production got under way. You may find data on other problems with the M1 Garand in these files.

I hope some of this data helps.
So guys, what do you think about this file ?
Sorry about the post. Again, I am dealing with old microfilm.

Well the did figure out how to solve it by milling the trigger housing from the large pad to the small pad pattern.

Here's a pic of an early SA gas trap housing that's been milled to the small pad design. You can make out the shape of the original pad where material has been milled away on the right of it to give the safety hook more travel.

M1 Garand

How many Garand lovers do we have out there? I was first introduced to this weapon 30+ years ago, and I'am still fascinated with it. Owned and traded many over the years, and its still the most used rifle(s)I take to the range. The only complaint was I could never get used to M1 C's or D's with that off-set scope . Accuracy.... what other milsurp still competes in matches 70 years after its introduction? Its often said that Browning was a genius, IMHO the same can be said about Jonh Garand. Just my .02c worth

Japanese Garand

Clancy, have you ever run across any information on the WW2 Japanese copy of the garand? Numbers made? I've only seen a picture of one. From now on I will be able to spend more time shooting, reading etc. as I officially retired at 1Pm today:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D after 41 years in the construction industry.
