Safety problems?

Alright can someone tell me what I did wrong?

I've got a 10/22 with a crappy trigger pull so I bought a VQ HP triger kit to install along with the extended mag release and the auto bolt release. I've got everything together but my safety doesn't want to engage or sometimes will provided the hammer isn't cocked.

Where did I screw up?

sear modification

You did not screw up, this is a common problem when changing the hammer. What you may need to do is take the sear out, and sand or file the end right next to the safety until the safety will engage. Make sure you don't change the angle though. Go slow and try it often as you don't want to remove too much material. If you go to rimfirecentral, there will be lots of info on this. Good Luck. Later.

That is where the safety is hanging up. Thanks for the advice. I was hoping I had simply installed something the wrong way before I started grinding on stuff.

Did your parts kit come with instructions? I recall that there is a blurb on "tolerance stacking" and how to correct it on either the hammer or the trigger VQ parts kit.
