I happened upon an unused, undrilled, uninstalled SAFN barrel reportedly in 30-06. If I find an SAFN, I have more 30-06 ammo than anything else. There are two fittings on the barrel besides a threaded muzzle nut, a band that attaches with a small cross pin and the gas block. You will need to figure out how to get that off first.
The next problem MIGHT be adjusting the headspace. The bolt headspaces off a cross pin that goes side to side near the back of the magazine well. If the bolt closes properly, you're all set otherwise I don't know what you'll do.
