I have a problem with my FN-49 occasionally slamfiring, about once every 20-25 rounds. This can be caused by a broken one-piece firing pin which is floating. I however have a two-piece firing pin which is supposed to prevent this. It has been suggested that commercial primers are too soft and may be detonated by a floating firing pin. I reload my own ammo, so I am wondering what primers might be available besides the Federal and Winchester primers I have been using. Or if there may be some other cause?

Try CCI # 34 NATO primers....I use them in my FN 49, they are made specifically for military calibers and milsurp weapons to cure / prevent that problem. They are also a little hotter than standard primers and work quite well in applications requiring a magnum primer.
Cheers...

I would look at the recess of primer dept consistency of your reloads along with the cleaning the primer holes. (0.001” to 0 .002”)
I would also play it safe and have a smith in your area check it.
