Sage EBR Stock?

I saw what looked like a retailer posting an ad for ebr stocks in the exchange of competition and tactical equipment section.

Any of you that own an EBR stock what do you guys think of them? they are a nice looking piece of kit. Im considering one sometime in the new year.

Very nice piece of kit. I have one and I love it. It looks sweet and fit and finish is top notch. Install is not that hard but it takes about 1-1 1/2 hours. Its pricey but you get what you pay for. Bought mine from Del's

I brought 2 in from the states a few years ago when we could still do so ourselves (before ITAR went fully retarded). Very well made. Good piece of gear. Prefer the 870 style stock.

It's nice, but considering what it actually does, the value is actually quite low. You STILL need an additional part, whether it is the stripper clip guide rail mount or a side receiver mount, to put on most types of optics. The change to a pistol gripped, adjustable length of pull and comb height chassis that puts the shooter's shoulder in line with the barrel while adding rails is a welcome change, but it adds a fair bit of weight. A detail strip and clean will require minor re-zero, even if you don't touch the side mount.

That being said, I like mine, and I'll continue using it.

I had one on my springfield for 11 seconds

Heavy.
Really stupid heavy.
The "retractable" stock was pre historic.
Sharp. It caught on everything.
Big. Not ergonomic.
Not easy to shoot with.
Not easy to move with.

You are better off getting a Vltor

Or drop M14 Doctor a line.
He has a similar model.

For the most part I agree
the Sage EBR currently being imported has a weight of 5 lbs 12 ounces for the stock itself. For a bench shooting rifle, who cares...... but for carrying around.... i dunno..... she's not for me. They are exceptionally well made and do provide an extremely solid mounting platform for the M14/M1A rifles. They do cost about a 1000.00 to your door.

and as Romeo Sierra mentions, Vltor makes a chop mod stock.... in that it is made of a chopped, surplus usgi fiberglass stock and they bolt on thier adaptor and buttstock, which is proprietory and does not accept standard buffer tubes that would fit the AR15

Then there is the NEW MANUFACTURE stock I make here in the ICRW shop. wieghing in, as shown in this pic at a cool 1 lbs, 12 ounces..... the ONLY canadian made M14 stock on the market today ;) Understock and side rails are optional , most guys pair it up with an Ultimak or UTG trirail handguard or a standard scope mount. It also accepts any buffer tube style buttstock kit that is intended for the AR15/AR10

Romeo Sierra makes a good point. If you have it in your mind that the Sage will feel and handle like an AR or similar there's no way that's happening. Its more comparable to humping a large rifle or LMG (once all the tacticool stuff goes on). I had the one rifle out in the bush a few times and it gets heavy and it is bulky. If this is for a DMR type build that mostly sees the range then this should not be a problem. Its best features are the accuracy and stability that this stock offers.
