Looking for a source to get Sage EBR stocks in Canada.

The looking I've done so far bought me to the conclusion that dealers are having a tough time finding a Canadian importer who regularly pulls them out of the US.

I've found McMillan MFS-14 (Gord at Millarm was so pissed off at them for over 6 mo's delivery time for a stock, he will not order from them anymore), several crap knock-off attempts at a mod-stock, even a source for the new ghey-looking VLTOR stock.

A friend suggested trying the airsoft knock-off and seeing if it works for me. I suggested that might happen right after he started trying dating guys and see if that worked for him.

ANYWHORE....

I want a sage inside the next 3-6 months and need to find a source.

thanks bud.

**Edit:
Talked to them. Their response was a very terse "Sorry, we do not handle that product."

If you find a good source for a sage PM me I need one also.

There's a used Sage EBR stock at AR15.com in their EE for $600. I think it is listed as a 2005 production model.

I see that. Would like some photos - dont really know what his "good" condition is.

Would prefer to spend $1200 in Canada for new, than "bargain" rate for the used unknown, if you know what I mean.

IF someone wants to trade a McMillan M2A stock AND a SEI scope mount, I MIGHT be willing to part with my Sage chassis.......;):D:p

You can order them new from the U.S, but you would have to go through the hassles of obtaining Import/Export permits, and find a dealer willing to ship to Canada.

Some places like Fulton Armory (who carry the Sage) will NOT ship to Canada or out of the U.S. at all.

BTW, for the $600.00 U.S. being asked for a used Sage, you can buy a brand new one.

Yeah, you know its kinda funny.

Its almost like money doesn't motivate poeple anymore in post C68 Canada.

You can put up a sizable cash-money offer for gear, and people just give you this blank "I can't help you" stare. It's fookin uncapitalist, it is.

Its "half" a joke, but I CANT WAIT for the gulf war to end.

Everyone goes home with the best after-market gear ever produced, and it WILL flood ebay. A $1500 set of SAPI plates and Interceptor armor becomes a $200 and case of beer kind of item overnight, as tactical "Chic" evaporates and people churn back to their regular civie jobs.

Just got off phone with Gadget. Great guy, very knowledgable. Interesting to hear what is available and what is not, and more particularly, why...

Going to buy a sage from him in a week or so.

I personally dont like the Troy Sopmod II.

Too me, it looks cumbersome and ill designed. Consider the following photo...

stock_system.jpg

Though some may find it the dogs danglies, I am repulsed by an ongoing attempt to put an M4 stock on EVERY gun on the planet.

I dont know if the comb of the butt stock is adjustable like the VLTOR or McMillan M1A stocks. But if it is not, I already am no fan of the design as it indexes so high as to discourage a "heads up" sight picture.

The tango down shaped grip is, like the stock, another gross attempt to make every gun out there feel like an M4.

Add the stupid "Krink" flash suppresor to the end, and the ill disguised attempt to pass this off as an M4 is complete. If you love an M4's features that much, get an M4.

I would FAR rather have gotten a rock Sopmod, as it was a very clean, streamlined, innovative, and --god forbid-- original design (albeit somewhat proprietary in its redesign of the gas system.) In other words, it was a really great attempt at an upgraded M1A, instead of these continued poor stabs at a kludged M4.

Worse, I am not hearing great things about the ability of the Canadian Reps to actually get even one Troy stock to date. As difficult as it has been to find a Sage, the Troy sounds even more scarce.

Just my opinion.

Sprint, some of the things you dont like about the stock are some of the thing I like. Lets start with the M-4 stock design. Your right in that it is used on everything from assault rifle to shotgun, that to me just goes to prove it as an excellent design, What I like about it is the adjustability in length for short carry, adjustable for winter clothing and summer clothing. I think the M4 ajustable stock is an excellent design for many firearms and is one reason it is used here.

Stupid Krink flash suppressor.....agreed, but not part of the stock.

I also like the top rail for scope and Iron sights I think that is a great idea, along with the other M4 rail type configurations.

Why not just buy an M4.....got one I want a .308 and haveing something that is familiar in feel and function would be a bonus in my opinion.

All that said I would love a Sage also, but getting one is just as tuff as the Troy industries so for me it will probably come down to what is available first and easiest to get my hands on.

In talking to a Canadian rep for the Sopmod stock it will not be available till around june for purchase if all goes good with the State dept for export.

Just another opinion

The M4 stock design is perfect...........for an M4;)

I prefer the Sage collapsing stock with the adjustable cheekrest.

The Sage stock can be adjusted by the thumb without removing your hand from the pistol grip.

The cheekrest is easily adjusted and solid. There is a little play in the Collapsing stock, but it is no more play then in a M4 type stock.

That said I would like to get hands on with a Troy SOPMOD II stock just to see what it is like.

Very well said. I love the M4 for what it is. But in copying everything, innovation eventually suffers.

I lke the Sage for a relatively clean departure from everything thats been done and done over again, both on the M4 and the M1A. Will love seeing the spin offs from their stock system five years down the road.

Would LOVE to get my hands on a recoil attenuator.

MOST important point is that YOU are happy with the purchase. Everyone else's opinion doesnt really matter.

I will say the only drawback to the Sage system is weight. It is a heavy stock.

When I set My Sage up as a DMR with optics and a Medium weight match barrel, it weighs in at around 15 lbs loaded.

I have shot this set up in Service rifle and did the run downs.I got a GREAT workout!!!!! :p The 500 meter to 100 meter rundown was a killer........:(

Compared to ~10 lbs for a loaded FN, that is indeed heavier. In fact, it's almost identical weight to an empty M249, but with the "reach out and touch" of .308.

Not for girlies, but still pretty manageable :D

I assume the weight loaded is with your scope as well?
