Some may consider this sacrilege, but I installed my Ziess Conquest 3-9x50 scope onto the build using an M14.CA CASM mount. It's the only mounting solution I had for a scope since my Bassett won't work without milling off the first two rail sections.

I installed the tallest cheek riser I had on the CTR stock and headed to the range...

Firs 5 shots at 50 yards measured 0.590"...

Ran a total of 102 round through the rifle today 72 rounds of XM-80 ball and 30 rounds of various hand loads and some 175gr FGMM

Smallest group at 100 was 1.297"

Overall, it was a good first range trip. My cheek weld wasn't the best so I might slap on my CTR stock and give it another go. It was just a little low. My Zeiss is also not able to adjust the parallax, so there was some at 100. I believe it was set up for zero parallax at 300yds.

It's shooting pretty good and I haven't had a chance to mess with the tensioner screw yet. Shawn has the results and I think he's happy with the performance. I'll try and give it another go on Wednesday.

Looks great!

I'm trying to solve the cheek weld issue myself. I have mounted a Leatherwood ART on top of an SEI M21 mount. The scope is so high above the bore that getting a consistent cheek weld on my wood stock is impossible. Like your Zeiss, my Leatherwood also lacks parallax adjustment. I really need to make a riser for my cheek weld.

Great looking groups, thank you for sharing!

Thanks!

I went out for a second range trip with the LRB/Bula/SAGE build. I adjusted the barrel whip screw and it seemed to help a little. Here are the last three groups fired out of this rifle; two 5-shot groups and one 10-shot group.

The 125's shot about the same as before...

This is the smallest group that's ever been fired out of this gun and it was shot by one of my best friends who's not an experienced shooter at all. He's only fired rifles a couple of times in his life and that was all while he was with me.

The 175's had the most improvement, cutting a third of an inch off group size while shooting twice as many rounds.

Average group size for the last twenty shots was 1.292", or 1.23 MOA.

I sent the last shot off 30 seconds before the final cease fire at the range. It was 9pm and we were shooting on a lighted range. I wanted to shoot some more 175's and maybe some M118LR but we ran out of time.

Tony.
