Hey Everyone,

Just picked up this stock for an M1 Garand. Apparently a pretty rare find in Canada. I have read a few threads on the net about this stock, a lot of the "don't mess with perfection" type comments and although I think the M1 Garands are great as they are, classic and historically significant, I'm excited to see how one looks and shoots in this stock.

Looks a lot like the M1A/M305/M14 EBR stock (figures since it's a Sage stock). Anyone have any experiences with getting an M1 in the stock? I hear the Norinco's have some mods that need to be done to fit them into the EBR stock, wondering if this might be the same case for the M1 Garands depending on which armory it came from.

Check it out:

Heh. I hate them on the SKS, but I would hate them more on the Garand. I just feel the original stocks add a lot of the character to the guns.

That being said, I am curious to see how it would look completed.

You will not be dissapointed, probably one of the rifles I regret selling the most, I too am a huge fan of M1Garands, however I enjoy them in any stock/furniture set...

As far as assembly goes, its a cake walk, you will have to remove your gasblock to allow the tensioning block to slide over the barrel and op rod, (follow the directions to ensure proper allignment/direction) and then reinstall your gasblock assembly, the tensioning block has a screw that threads into the bottom of the forend to provide more strength and rigidity to the barreled action, and is VERY rock solid I have to say... No welding, no screwing around, got to love it!!! :dancingbanana:

Again this stock (like everything else SAGE does) is built like a MAC truck, and it shows, usually the US StateDept would prohibit these collapsing stocks from being sent out of the country, however thats not the case here, as they are sent to us Canucks in that configuration, but once they arrive the distributor here has contracted out a machineshop here to add the collapsing stock arms, and thus bring it back to its original configuration. The rifle will be on the portly side of about 12-13 pounds, but again being the only centerfire rifle to be exempt from the 5 round laws (WITHOUT going pistol mags) is pretty cool! Enjoy!!

This was my EBRd Garand from days gone by... :(

Thanks for the info and the final result Cst Grad C. Nixon. Looks great with the bipod. Can't wait to get it complete!

No problem! Glad I could help :)

The bipod is one of the Atlas V8's, I believe you can get em through WolverineSupplies, rock solid pod for literally every caliber on the face of the earth :D

Nixon; I hope that it makes things a little easier knowing your SAGE went to a happy home. :D

I am absolutely loving the Garand in the SAGE with a Leupy scout scope. It shoots well, and handles brilliantly.

OMR: the trigger group was a tight fit in the stock on a 1950ish Springfield action, but it didn't require any modification. Just a little patience and a little more pressure than I had expected.

I like it and it makes me want to put one together, scope it with a LaRue mount,
thread a DC Vortex flash hider on it (if possible) and shoot it suppressed.

Thanks and keep us posted as you build moves forward.

Sage doesnt manufacture them for SKS' unfortunately, they're only available for the Garands, M1As, and Mini-14s, IF you are seeing a EBR'ish style stock on an SKS its not a genuine SAGE and definitely a clone :D

I think it's kinda cool, but nothing beats the old wooden stock, leather cheek piece, bipod, and a big old scope....the perfect setup

Hi. At the risk of showing my ignorance of the law, why is this configuration exempt from the 5 round law, without using pistol mags.
Awesome looking system ....I dont often get jealous, but ............. :)

The Garand uses an EnBloc "CLIP" (the only rifle you can say clip with too :D) for loading, its not deemed a magazine hence why its exempt from the law... (but that reason doesnt sounds as cool as saying it was also cause it was designed by a Canadian so its exempt :D:D:D) Belt fed firearms with design prior to 1945*? I believe is the year that are also exempt from this restriction too...

No offence,but I can't see that on a garand,ruins the
look of a fine rifle.

Fair enough, however once someone actually has some trigger time behind one with the EBR chassis, the user features just cannot be beat for a 60-70year old battle rifle, almost breathing a breath of fresh air into an old warhorse, granted NOTHING beats the classy wooden furniture... but nothing can... Just my $0.02 :D

When I see a Garand modified like that I think "why".

But if someone came out with a semi 30-06 that looked like that I would be stoked.

I guess I like it in the end.
