Sailboat keel?

I have a load of odds and ends lead that I am planning on blending and sending down a sample. Probably some time after the snow disappears.

Great pls let me know.
I have a good size batch of nice hard alloy that I would like to know details of but would like to do another big batch (400lbs or so) of wheelweight melting first.
Just got new neighbours and I have heard he works for the fire department as a fire prevention officer so might need to look into changing the burner from NG to propane and do it somewhere else.

That is the good part of keel lead, it melts nice and clean. Hate the smoke that comes off the wheel weights...

Why would you guys want the lead to be analyzed, i thought that knowing the BHN was enough for our shooting purposes.

Advantage is to know how much tin is in the mix, bhn number won't tell you that.
Other than that just out of curiosity, or might help if you want to sell some of it as ingots.
I have a Saeco/Redding Lead Hardness Tester so can figure out the hardness myself :)

Rather than cut it up, can you tiger-torch the block and let the melt stream dribble into a couple of thrift shop cake trays?

That way the oil and paint burns off outside, you don't have to carry most of the dirt home with you, and nothing gets ground up into oily/mobile/inhalable dust/chips.

There'll be smoke from the burn-off, but that's unavoidable however you do this. Vapour from the lead will be minimal, as you're only taking it to just above the melting point.
