Well, what I want to ask is if anyone knows of anywhere I can take gun parts to and learn to build a rifle, reaming and profiling and all that stuff? I did a lot of shopping and research in preparation for a class, and I still want to learn.
I got a message from SAIT on Monday (8th) telling me that my gunsmithing class for the 12th is now canceled due to underenrollment. 'Poof', tough luck, have fun with your box of parts, which costs quite a bit of time and money to get. Rather than go ahead with a small class, they tell me at the very last minute. Not only does another class conflict with Mondays, but since it was in high demand I booked back at the beginning of January and I couldn't switch it to another night if I wanted to (frustrated).
SAIT says they'll give my tuition back, but they seem to say a lot of things so I'll believe it when I see it.
I don't know if I'm angry or disappointed, probably some of both. But I know I still want to build a rifle and I still want to get into the sport of long-range shooting.
update:
Turns out there was only 1 person registered in the class, but no-one thought I should know that. If they'd said SOMETHING I'd have been able to juggle the schedule, even only a week beforehand, but not on less than a day's notice.
And there is no future class planned though the lady said that in past years there have been classes in September, so maybe I could get my hopes up for that
And about the money invested in the parts that are required for the course - hard cheese, you pays your dime and takes your chances.
Not really satisfied with the SAIT customer service style.
