I have a Sako .300 Winchester with a 22.5 inch barrel. So far, the best load I've tried is 77.5 grains of Vihtavuori N560 with a 180-grain Nosler Accubond. This gives me a solid 3,050 over the chronograph, even from this short barrel.

I question why you would want a .300 Winchester Magnum with a 20 inch barrel (I thought mine was short!).

I've found that the classic accuracy load that seems to work with any .300 Winchester Magnum I've tried is 73 grains of IMR 4831 with any decent 180-grain bullet.

My Sako m75SS 300WM (24") with RL 22 @ 74.0gr with mag primers and 180gr Accubonds gives me close to 0.25" groups @ 100m. No chrony but should be over 3000ft/s for sure.

Why the short barrel? Thats probably most of the problem with not all the powder burning. What is his COL?
