A few weeks ago I came across a Sako 85 stainless with a fluted barrel in 6.5x55 Swede and grabbed it.

Recoil is minimal and the rifle shoots like a laser beam. I have always heard people talk about how much they liked their 6.5x55 Swede and now I know why.

Me and my Swede are going to spend a lot of quality dates at the range before hunting season.

I picked up a Tikka lite in 6.5 swede And I love it. With factory ammo it will shoot under an inch, that's about all I need out of a hunting rifle.

I managed to get a 200 pound whitetail with it this year, high lung shot and he only ran about 10 yards.

I plan on using the 6.5 swede as my main deer round from now on.

Wow. Never thought of taking my swede to the swimming pool or Elk hunting . I guess my
Horizons just got expanded! Great pictures and that is another georgeous swede

i own a carl gustav 6.5 and a tikka varmint in 6.5 ...........great guns and great caliber!.......turned my 308's into safe queens.......

I have a Carl Gustaf M 96 manufactured in March 1896. It is the 29.5" barrel version with a Timney trigger installed sitting in a Butler Creek composite stock. This firearm is extremely accurate (perhaps the most accurate gun I own), mild in recoil and very effective on game up to and including Moose. It also doubles as a fine varmint round using Sierra 85 grain boat tail spitzers. What's not to like about the 6.5 x 55 Swede!

A few weeks ago I came across an amazing deal on a Sako 85 stainless with a fluted barrel in 6.5x55 Swede and grabbed it. I purchased a set of 30 mm Sako Optilock ringmounts (the ones that dont require the bases) and yesterday topped it with a Leica ER 2.5-10x42 with the IBS reticle.

Today I had a chance to get out to the range and sight it in. First, the scope is amazing! Clarity is spectacular, extended eye relief is very nice and the turrets are nice and crisp. I was concerned that the IBS reticle would be too busy for my eye but after a short amount of time I found I actually like it.

I loaded up 50 rounds of Hornady SST 140 gr with IMR 4831 - increasing the powder charge every 5 rounds, and seated them out until they are almost touching the lans. After sighting it in my first 5 shot group had 4 of the 5 touching and one flyer (due to me).

Recoil is minimal and the rifle shoots like a laser beam. I have always heard people talk about how much they liked their 6.5x55 Swede and now I know why.
Next will come some testing with different bullets and powder combos .... and then stretching out to 300 yards + to see what it can do. The only problem I foresee is that past 400 yards those little 6.5 mm holes will get hard to see.

Me and my Swede are going to spend a lot of quality dates at the range before hunting season. - Yup Im in love
Sounds like a nice rig...I too have the 6.5x55SE...It's a CZ550 Lux topped by a Sightron BS 6-24x42....Excellent rifle and excellent scope...Happy with my rig...Easy to shoot .5 Moa at a hundred...Going for longer ranges once the weather warms a bit...
This is the caliber I like best so far...

i tryed all powder bullet combos (we are a group of hunters all sporting 6.5 x55 )
3 of the rifles are shooting the following combination
the 140 sst with 46 grains of reloader 22 overall length is 3.129 with .020 into the lands
one of these rifles is a sako 85A (sako action does not like 48-49 grains RL 22 blew the action apart 2 times
We are all shooting .5 and under

im running my rifle with the same combo length but I'm running 49 grains powder the sako action do not like this
rem 700 is good , CZ 550 action is good
im running out at 1100 yards with 25 Moa and it runs a tight 4-6 inch group
but to see you need to run an 8x 32x 56 or better

this is is what dropped that big bull at 400 yards
