Hi , i have a brand new sako 75 finnlite with a very sloppy bolt, by sloppy i mean it moves left to right even on the lug end of the bolt, when cocked and when a round is chambered ,,can move it back forth the rear of bolt also at anytime , cocked ect.....if i push down on the bolt hard it tightens up ,,,,anyone seen this issue in sako before? seems very poor craftsmanship for such an expensive rifle...being never fired would they be likely to fix or replace it ?

Are you sure it's new in the box???? Sako quit buiding the model 75 rifles back around 2007.

new unfired ..as claimed by previous owner.... im pretty sure no bolt should move with a round chambered..even cockd without a round you can shake rifle hear it rattle...

Recently I bought an unfired rifle, that after a trip to the range I figured had a bolt of the wrong caliber. Dry firing was perfect though.
The seller sent me the right bolt after he found it.
I’m telling you this so you know it’s not impossible.

270 wsm ... last 3 serial digits are scribed on bolt so right bolt...everything seems loose,,, even cocking the bolt if effortless ... the cocked bolt rattles when i shake the gun...with a round chambered i can still move bolt,,, even on the lug end

seams strange to me, wrong bolt, ?
What caliber, i can see a S short bolt, being loose in a SM (WSM) action as you have described,
does the brass/ live round, fit neatly in the bolt head ?

Sako 75 actions are all different lengths by cartridge. An S bolt won't fit in an SM action.

Something is amiss. Take it to a smith before firing. My Sako bolts are all snug.

Is the bolt actually cocking? Does it have a " key concept" bolt shroud? Does it do it if you take the stock off?

well DO NOT put a live round into that rifle under those circumstances. As others have said ... get it to a qualified gunsmith.

All Sako bolts have a number scribed in the bottom of the bolt handle. It is the last few digits of the rifles serial number. First thing to check is to make sure that bolt matches the rifles serial number. Then for sure have it checked out by a gunsmith first. not something to mess around with.

A story about bolts.

I acquired a Rem 700 ADL that was 15 years old and unfired. Once I had it in hand, I could see why it had never been fired. It was a 7mm Rem Mag, but the bolt (with correct serial #) had a standard bolt face and would not close on a magnum case. The bolt was replaced under warranty by Remington. So, #### happens, and sometimes you get a dud.

Contact Stoeger Industries, there could be a reason it was never fired.

Is it a "SM" or "V" action rifle ? The Sako "V" action was the first issued production of the 270WSM and 300WSM before Sako had made the SM action. The "V" action was used in the 7mmRM/300WM/338WM Sako 75 rifles.

I have the "SM" action in a Sako 75ss 270WSM and a Sako 75 Greywolf 300WSM and no issues with bolt sloppyness..
