Does anyone have a custom rifle with a sako 85 action? i am thinking of building a rifle. should i get the action trued up like i have for my custom rem 700 or does the sako not need any work done?

Thanks R.W.

I think most of the Sakos' won't need truing. My last Sako 75 was built with a McMillan A2 stock, in .223 with a Kreiger HV barrel. My gunsmith at the time said there was no reason to true the action, as it didn't need it. I love the smooth cycling of the three lug Sako bolt action. The gun weighs just under 15lbs with a Leupold 8.5 x 25LR scope. I also have a brake installed because I like to see "hits" when live varmint hunting....:p
One big advantage I see with the remington based guns is the ability to install a Jewell trigger. You can only adjust the Sako trigger so much.

r.a.w, like some of what the other guys have noted i dont think you will need it trued up because sako's tolerances are very good. i had a sako 591 build and it did not need going over. they do make great actions to build on!!
