I have a Sako 85 Kodiak on order and I just heard about the Sako Quick Detachable scope mounts.I'm looking at getting a Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x50mm in silver.I'm not sure if I will need the low or medium height mounts. If anybody got any suggestions about mounts/ scopes let me know before I order. Thanks

If you go on Sako's website and Leupold's site you should be able to figure out what you need. There is all the measurements and dimensions for both the scope and the rings on the sites, might take a bit of figuring, but it can be done. I have 3 sako setups with Leupold optics, and I am sure I am using the "low" mount on all of them. The bigger (50mm and 56mm) scopes have the cutout on the bottom to clear the barrel, but there is a fair bit of room. One set is the quick detach style you are referring to. Sako claims that you can take the scope off, and reinstall it without changing the point of impact. Test this on your own gun at a range. It does work on my set up.

All of my Sako m75 rifles along with my Tikka T3's have the Optilocks Rings & Bases (low mount) with Leupold scopes but in the 40mm OBJ. I have one with the Optilock Ringmounts. Lots of room still but you may need the medium heights for the 50mm OBJ.

I thought of the QR model before but had trouble finding them.

Sweet order on the Kodiak rifle!!!
