Sako 85 vs sauer 101

Sako 85 pros:
- all metal mag
- metal trigger guard
- decent wood
- guaranteed to shoot 5 rounds under 1 moa
- known to be fine rifles and are easy to sell
- lots of barrel and stock options
Sako 85 cons:
- hard to to order exactly what you want
- possibility of "brass hits the scope" issue
- depending on options can be over $2k or even $3k
Sauer 101 pros:
- known name
- 6 lugs bolt locks to barrel directly
- heat pressed barrel
- plastic stock is better a bit than plastic on Sako
- better safety
Sauer 101 cons:
- wood is very basic
- 6 lugs bolt locks to barrel directly (for many people its negative)
- heat pressed barrel (for many people its negative)
- no bedding
- no explicit accuracy guarantee
- 101 is a very new unproven model, could be hard to sell
- no options on barrels, just 2 stock options, no after market

I have a Sako 85 Bavarian and a newly purchased Mauser M12. The Mauser M12 is the twin, well almost, to the Sauer 101..............the bolt, barrel and trigger are identical. Blaser, Sauer and Mauser are owned by Sig Arms and located in the same town, but not under the same roof....separate buildings. I have rated the Sako a little higher than the Mauser, however; until I use it at the range, so that Mauser has a chance to prove it's function and accuracy. If Mauser equals or surpasses these obstacles I will then rate it at an even level, or higher than Sako. That won't be determined until late March or early April, winter pending.

I shoot a Sauer 200 in 30/06. A very nice take-down rifle with Swarovski glass. Very smooth with all metal 3 and 5 round magazines. I did have trouble with the lock on the fitted case which I had to repair. I took a Mulie doe with the Sauer a couple years ago when I had a draw. I'm still working on loads for this gun but I havn't found the time lately as I'm busy smelting lead and casting for a 50 cal front stuffer and my favorite 71/84 Mauser. If I could afford another Sauer it would be an older double rifle drilling.
How about your experience with any Sauer, let alone the new 101?
I bought the Sako in 9.3x62 black bear, The Sauer 101 (having a Sauer 200 in the past and loved it) seems a bit cheap (perhaps that's the wrong word, efficiently made) when I thought of the name Sauer.
Tubular stock to make the action, superb metal I am sure of, the wood stock look plain and the plastic similar to the sako reminded me of savage. Hate the safety on the end of the bolt, loved the Sauer 200 safety
on the trigger guard. polymer mag (i'll take the sako mag).
