Sako 85

Hello every one.
Finally I started my first thread and unfortunately it is a question.
My question is: if Sako 85 Finnlight, which is stainless steel, suppose to rust?
Rifle was cleaned and lubricated, and after 3 days in the woods noticed small
rust spots on the trigger and barrel. I thought that stainless steel rifle should not rust over that small period of time.
Please, any thoughts and facts.

From page 19 of the Sako manual,

Clean the bolt, as well as the other external metal parts lightly with an oily cloth. Maintenance should not be neglected even in case of the “All-weather” or “Stainless” models, as the steel may still corrode.

In the finlight model, all the parts may not be steel, the trigger gaurd etc may be aluminum to save weight.

I've never had that happen to my Rem. or any other stainless gun after such a short time could it be corroded do you live close to the ocean?

If the stainless has been contaminated (come in contact) with regular carbon steel, it will corrode in that spot.
