I'm thinking about buying one of these two rifle for deer hunting in 6.5 CM. They are about the same price, depending on discounts [right now I can get a waypoint for $500]. The Adventure is probably a 1/2 pound lighter [20"], but the Waypoint has 2" more barrel [22"]. I want something a little lighter, and with less recoil, so my son can also start hunting with it. I am a Sako fan boy and have a TRG 22 in 6.5 for range work. Thoughts, or personal experiences would be appreciated.

Sako, not likely to have kid shoot unsupported anyway so extra half pound soaks up more re recoil and will be easier to shoot and see more in scope. As for the gun...resale, fit finish features quality is all there with the sako, nothing hanging down, best mag in business, wr lock time, short bolt throw, slicker action/feeding, integral picatinny making low as you want scope mounting and rock solid option, unreal trigger. There’s no question which way to go imo...kit gun vs a sako 90? Unless you’ve fallen for the prs koolaid and need to look the part there is no question.

Great advice. I am leaning that way.

Sako.

Never owned a Springfield rifle, but have owned a few of their 1911’s. None were flawless, all were re-homed.

In contrast, my Sako 85 is about as flawless a firearm I have ever owned. Only minor gripe is dual dovetail scope mounting, but they seem to have fixed that on the 90.
