Sako a7 in 30-06 rebarreled to ? 6.5-06??

I've just picked up a sako a7 roughtech pro in 30-06.
There is no interest on my part in owning a 30 cal so I'm interested in suggestions on what to rebarrel it to.
There's a .280 ackley and a 9.3x62 in the safe already so I'm thinking maybe 6.5-06.
Any other ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Good choice. Also 25-06? I guess 35 Whelen could be too close to your unspecified 9.3

6.5-284 makes the most sense given the short magazine length. Especially if you want to shoot the Uber slippery bullets.

6mm-06 for a screamer. I wonder how fast those 55gr pills could be driven.....They say 4500 f/s. And around 4000 f/s for the 70gr pills. Certainly overbore, but no more ridiculous than a 257 Weatherby

The 6.5's aren't going to give you anything that you haven't already got with the .280 AI. Go smaller.

OTOH ..... That 30-06 sits nicely between the 280AI and the 9.3.

6.5x55 in a carbine length barrel. I'm guessing the 280ai wears a 24" or so barrel so something capable but a bit shorter would be a nice combination

Thanks guys. I'm liking the look of the 6.5-284 even though it's very similar to the .280 ai. I may just have to keep one for Hunting and one for target shooting. Then again the .257 Roberts looks pretty cool too.
