Sako AV Help

I just picked up a Sako AV in 7mm and i need some 30mm rings for it. The Burris bases that it came with are just as old as the rifle it seems and are 1" rings. They have a weird locking system with tapered slots on the bases. As this is my first Sako, i have no idea what kind of system this is. Will optilocs work? or can i just buy new rings and unscrew the ones that are on there?

This style of base?

If so just buy a set of Leupold 30mm dovetail rings. They should work like a charm.

Talley's are nice too though.

I've tried them all on the various Sako's I've owned except for Talleys and the burris you have are my favourites.


Just replace the rings, leave the bases.

I dont suppose anyone knows what twist barrel it has? its got a 22.5" on it.

perfect. should be a great little shooter. Im the second owner and its only had 1 box of bullets down the tube. thanks guys
