My pet project is finally where I want it. Sako 75 Finnlight in .308 with a McMillan EDGE graphite stock in OD, and VXII 2.5-8. Final weight is 7lbs even. Gonna try it out tomorrow, and maybe bag a deer.:)

nice....I've been wondering where one of these would weigh with an Edge stock...I know where there is one in 260.....my 75 IV actioned 6.5 SE is over 8#'s with a standard McMillan....

Very nice rifle! I'll bet it balances great.

One minor nit pick. Can you turn the rear ring around to get wider, thus stronger, ring spacing for the scope?

Can't turn the rear ring around, but you can get a different base for the front that puts the ring at the front of the base. Actually I had the other base on it, but switched to the current one to move the scope back a bit. ER fits me better this way, with a hunting jacket on.

EDIT: I shouldn't have said the rifle is where I want it, as I'm still waiting for Stoeger to remove the Key Concept from the bolt.

Looks great. I was going to do a Macmillan but went with a new Sako m75 Greywolf for my custom project rifle (338-06AI)

I may do up a Macmillan stock for a Sako m75ss 270WSM like one Elk man had - instrument tan with black & white webbing.

I've become quite enamored with the Sako 75 lately....the stainless/synthetic 6.5 Swede I got from Mistahmojoryan impressed me so much I got a McMillan for it from thier Internet Specials page(10 days delivery:)) and searched out a NIB stainless/synthetic 75 in 22-250....
I'd grab a stainless 75 in 300WSM...if I could find one....
They are a very nice rifle......and a McMillan just makes them better.
Can't see why Sako had to "update" it to the 85....

Very nice. I just placed an order for a Mc Millan edge for my Sako 75 in a 260 Rem. I have a set of Controle bases and rings on mine to keep the weight down. I just wish I could have gotten the Finnlight to have my walk about rifle as light as possible.

Blargon, is that the olive color on your stock? Also , were you able to fasten the cap at the end of the pistol grip from the original stock?

Yeah its Olive, but looks grey in the pics. The wait time was 20 weeks. I haven't bothered with the grip cap medallion. What do the Controle's weigh?? The optilocks are around 6oz...

Sako

Very nice. Does it have the aluminum pillars? I am going to have to order one for my Sako. Is there a wait to change over the key concept bolt shroud?

I’m not sure what the weight is but I copied this info from Controle’s web page.

“It goes without saying that Conetrol makes the lightest milled-steel split-ring mounts available, since they are without usual weight-adding protuberances such as the adjustment knobs, connection lugs and attachment levers found on other designs. Our Custum bases are the lightest of our three regular grades because extra metal is removed when edges and corners are rounded off and streamlined. "

I’m looking forward to using my Sako with it’s new stock next year...
