My dad is getting rid of a Sako Finnbear .338 Win Mag. I think circa 1972???

I was wondering if someone could give me a hand with the value of it for him.

Wood stock, rosewood tips / Ivory bear cap / logo under the grip.

Never fired (as far as we are informed) and maybe has a fingerprint or two on it. lol Blueing 100%, wood 100%, etc.

Comes with Leopold scope and mounts, I think a VX-2, but not sure, scope was around $500.

Any info? Thanks in advance.:D

I wouldn't think $1800-$2000 would be too far off, if it IS unfired, and comes with the scope...

If I were you, I'd try and talk him into giving it to you to use...;)

I just sold an L61R 375 for $850 and a mint L61R 25-06 for $750 last December.

Del Selins is showing one in 338 for about $1100 IIRC

add about $250-$300 for the scope and mounts..if the scope is also circa 1972 it'll be a VariX-II with no where near the coatings the later versions had...worth maybe $150

Thanks guys. The scope is new, not old......it was mounted on the rifle when my dad got it a year or so ago.

I looked at the one at DelSelins and it doesn't have the rosewood tip or cap on the stock...nice rifle though, but I know with brands like Weatherby and Sako those touchs, plus the gold engraving on the floorplate will make a price difference......I guess I never mentioned the gold inlay did I...oops.

Thanks again guys!

I'll let him know.

sounds like a Sako Deluxe...they go for a bit more than the standard model....

That would be more than they went for new I do believe? I just about pulled the trigger on a 75 deluxe a few years back now, and it would hve cost very close to the $2400.00 mark. So $2200.00 is doing very good I think. A nice rifle just a little out of my reach though.

I'm not sure........somewhere in central Alberta.....after years as a patch consultant he never takes a highway, and he knows every farmer up and down every damn road I've ever seen. I think he did well.
