was looking at both of these fine rimfires . really undecided which to get in 22 lr .it will be set up for hunting and target shooting .tough choice .

What type of hunting? What type of target shooting?

The Tikka has the edge on price and aftermarket support. The Sako surprised me with how much plastic was on it given the price, not that plastic is necessarily bad. I prefer the ergonomics of the Sako stock, but that’s moot if you’re planning a restock or chassis. I also much prefer the flush fit magazines of the Sako, but I’m not sure that alone commands a $500 premium.

For the money I think you’d be hard pressed to do better than the T1X. For Finnfire 2 money I’d buy an Anschutz.

I was lucky enough to be able to shoot both of those before purchasing.

The Sako really isn't better out of the box, than the Tikka.

I fitted the same scope onto both rifles, to make sure there wouldn't be any difference in glass quality and used the same Aguila Supreme ammo.

The group sizes were so close at 50 and 100 yards that I couldn't measure the difference.

The things I did like about the Sako was its 1/4 inch longer length of pull, wood stock and slightly heavier frontal weight.

The Tikka needed some help to be ergonomically more comfortable. Still, it was cheaper than than the Sako after all was said and done.

Thank goodness a friend had a surplus to him varmint stock with all the add ons, such as cheek riser and grip enhancer. It also had a longer stock/pull length.

I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the triggers on either of them out of the box.

The triggers are very easy to adjust on both of the single stage models. No, I didn't adjust the Sako because it was obvious I wouldn't be buying it.
