Hi There,

Just got my McMillan Edge stock (i.e., came with pillars installed) for my Sako Finnlight. No Torque Specs were sent. What is the highest or recommended torque setting (I'm hoping 45 in/bs - that is what my Sinclair Torque wrench is set to)? Thanks in advance.

If the pillars are installed it will need to be bedded , those stocks are not straight drop in's. I would have a quality gunsmith do the work for a stock of that quality. Once the bedding is completed with the pillars installed it should be 60 inch pounds or torque

Drop your rifle in and snug it up by hand. Shoot it
They are drop in stocks.
I've had 2 that went to the gunsmith along with barrels for re chambering and both times the smith said he bedded the tang a little but that it wasn't really needed.
See how it shoots and go from there.
Was that mcmillian any lighter than the sako finlight stock?
What caliber?

Just sent in my rifle to get bedded. Beautiful stock (Olive with Black and grey speckletone. I will weight and compare the stocks once I get it back. However, my guess is that the factory stock is lighter - However, like I said, I will compare the stocks once I get my rifle back from the smith.

I have had several McMillans and the last couple on Sako 85's...one I bedded one I did not and it had pillars. Both shot awesome. I spoke to McMillan directly about bedding the one and they said it does not need to be bedded....especially if it shoots good as is.

So is this one

I recieved my sako 85 mcmillam edge for my 7mm rem mag. Not finnlight. My factory stock weighed in at 1lbs 15.7oz, my McMillan edge weights 1lbs 8.2oz. There was 1 problem with my stock IT DID NOT FIT. They inletted for a standard coutour barrel and mine is a magnum. So instead of sending it back I took it to a gunsmith to open up the barrel channel. Im also not impressed with the sako 85 aluminim recoil lug so im getting him to build a new one out of titanium and bed it into the stock.

Changing out the material of the recoil lug is a waste of money on a 7mm mag, on a 375+ maybe worthwhile, it's like the guys who change bottom metal.

Straight from the guy who makes them in Sakoboy's link. They don't need it.
