Is the action inlet on an L691 (not L61R) and an AV the same? If not what is different, and what does one have to change on an AV inleted stock to fit a L691 action into it? The rifles manual says L691, but the action is stamped AV. Is there a difference, or is it just a stamp change?

Thanks!

Sako L691 & AV Actions

The bedding arrangement on these two Sako actions are very much different. An AV action has an intergral recoil lug with a flat rear surface. The L691 uses a round post as the recoil lug, the center of which is threaded for the front guard screw. This round recoil lug is mated to a hardened "L" shaped aluminum block which is inletted into the stock. You should not try to bed an L691 action without this block inletted properly to the stock. I have a few of the recoil blocks available if you need one. If your action is stamped AV the stock should not have the metal recoil block.

The sides of the L691 action are flat while the sides of the AV are rounded which may cause some inletting issues.

A photo is worth a thousand words. If you are still not sure what you have send me a photo of the bottom of your action to rifle@person.ca and I should be able to identify it for you.
