A month after purchasing a new Sako from Wholesale Sports, the bolt release failed so I returned it to Wholesale...who repaired it within 1/2 hour... but "scuffed" the gaurd screws. They did not have replacement screws so I emailed Stoeger to be told that Wholesale was not authorized to do warranty work and I should send the rifle to them as they could not be sure the problem was a warranty issue. I replied that wholesale had not advised me they were not authorized to do warranty repairs so if there was a problem, Stoeger should deal with Wholesale ... and I would pay for the screws (they likely cost less than $10.00) and would argue responsibility later! After 3 weeks, I have had no satisfaction from Stoeger and no word on the screws! I was so upset that I requested contact information for the president of Stoeger but it appears that request is being ignored.
Any advise on how I can get screws? How to contact Sako by email to let them know how skeptical I would be to purchase another Sako if I could not get parts?

Stoeger frequently blows when it comes to calls regarding parts. Been there, done that. When I had a similar situation with a Sako I had the dealer deal with them and got the guard screw replaced. Maybe Wholesale will have better luck with Stoeger. Stoeger doesn't seem to give a rat's behind about the consumer.

When I was dinked around by Stoeger regarding some Beretta parts recently I had a dealer in England send them over. I'm still waiting to hear from Stoeger. (And Stoeger pisses and moans about smaller dealers bringing guns in from the U.K. as opposed to going through them.)

FYI, since Beretta bought out Sako the quality of Sako rifles seems to have declined somewhat IMHO.

I agree. I would have the butcher who did the work also get the replacement screws, I can't say anything about the tools at Wholesale Edmonton, but have seen the garbage tools used at Wholesale in Calgary, Stoeger is a ##### do deal with even as a dealer when parts are needed, so if the guys at Wholesale butched your screws let them deal with Stoegers BS. My question would be where did Wholesale get the bolt release from?
John Mock is the man at Stoeger by the way, you can call but I can save you the trouble, he will basically tell you the same thing he tells everyone who has a problem with customer service (or the total lack of it that they have) " thankyou for wasting my time bringing this to my attention, nothing will be done whatsoever to change how we do business and thankyou for buying a Sako"

Some Sako trigger guard screws are so tight I have had to use an impact driver with a good fitting blade and a 2 pound hammer. All this while the rifle has to be clamped firmly in a padded vice. Even then it was difficult not to slightly deform a screw head. No way in hell would you ever get them loose just with a screwdriver.

Often the damaged screw can be repolished and reblued to look quite good.

Live with it for now and try and buy a set of new screws...... possibly even hex headed ones.....

Are the screws damaged or just scratched? If it's just a scratch on the bluing, re-blue it and save the 10 bucks.
If you want to speak to Sako in Finland, go here, then on the 3rd picture from the right, then on 'contact us'. Select 'other country' and you'll be able to send your message. http://www.sako.fi/

The screws are functional ... just badly "scuffed".
Wholesale removed the trigger to access the bolt release and "ground something down to create enough clearance. I haven't had much better luck with Wholesale's "service". I have not been able to get through on the Sako "contact us" site. When I try to send... it pops up with the "page unavailible.....

If they have " ground something down" I would suspect any warranty you had with Sako has been voided, they are pretty fussy about letting anyone do anything to their rifles. I have had several clients with T3s that have had the plastic bolt shroud break, Stoeger has insisted that I return the bolt to them if warranty is expected, bear in mind that the plastic bolt shroud is a non critical part and merely snaps into place to cover the striker. Peter the parts and service fellow at Stoeger will sell the parts to me , but for warranty needs the entire bolt returned, rather than just the broken bits.
I would suggest phoning "Brad" at Wholesale here in Calgary as he is 1 of the owners, and ask him for satisfaction, he is now your most likely candidate to get your problem resolved. Stoeger WILL probably sell you a set of screws, but this should not be YOUR problem to deal with. Every shop has problems like this from time to time, #### does happen unfortunately, but in my shop I deal with the screw ups, not the customer. I would give Brad the opportunity to make this right.
