Sako Quad...

Sounded good in the 2006 GunDigest (page 169).
- Bolt Action
- Barrels are changable in seconds
- Interchangable Magazines
- 4- 22" barrels in 17HM2, 17HMR, 22LR, 22WMR
- Rifle can be bought with one barrel or with all four
- Weighs 5-3/4 lbs
- Black synthetic stock
- Adjustable pull weight trigger from 2- 4 lbs
- It's a Sako

That's about all I know about them, and I haven't checked their website yet.

Very cool.

The corisponding color coded scope is also a very cool idea. Change barrel, dial in the scope, good to go. It's starting to look like an expensive package though.

Anybody have one? Thoughts, impressions, etc.? Thanks in advance.

Had a chance to handle and fire one in .22rf. Only one barrel was purchased, so I couldn't try it in all the variants.

The rifle is well built, fit and finish were excellent. Bolt was buttery smooth, but Ric had already worked it in quite a bit. Trigger pull was quite good for out of the box.

What struck me was how light the rifle is...it was feather light. Strong, but light.

I think that the gun its self with your choice of caliber is around $970 + taxes and for each additional barrel is about $270 + taxes. Preatty pricey but really nice

I think that is the approximate price but you may want to check it out

That is in Canadian doller of course

If you got to www.wholesalesports.com/hunting you can check it out there

I stopped in at my local shop and was told about $1800.00 (and the scope is about $400.00 or $500.00, I can't remeber which), I kind of lost interest after the initial quote. The quote was for the 4 barrel version.

Yup, too rich for me...besides I know I could buy another gunsafe, allot of old Mossberg .22's, and ammo for that amount of money.

Nice concept though.

Had a chance to fondle it again last night, and again was struck by how light this platform is! Also, the barrel is changed by removing a single hex-screw, and then pulling the barrel UP and then forward. The receiver stays in the stock.

This by itself is not a problem, but with certain scope-bell sizes and rings (in this case, an Elite 3200 3-9x on med rings) the scope has to be dismounted to change the barrel. At the very least, some high magnification, AO or large bell scopes will need high, extra-high or maybe even QR rings for frequent barrel/calibre swaps.

Burris's quad scope is quite short, so it might not have this challenge.

Still a neat little rifle.
