Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has purchased a sako s20 in 300 win mag (precision or hunter) and has started reloading for it?

If so, would you guys be kind enough to reveal your loads?

I should be receiving my s20 precision in the next few weeks and I want to get a head start on reloading for it.

Thanks,

Lewis

I would me difficult to find pet loads for this particular rifle, hence new to North Americans. Best to start with a reloading manual, I suggest the Nosler reloading manual.

I do not have an S20, but do have a Tikka Tactical, its barrel is a 1:11 twist and is probably same or very similar barrel out of the same factory.

If bullets are under 200gns I use RL-22 ,if over 200gns then H-1000 gets the nod.

I've had good performance with the 185gn Berger Juggernaut, 75.76gns RL-22 at just over 3000 ft/s, 208 A-max ~77+ gns of H-1000 for ~2930 ft/s. Both loads are used in competition, get a podium once in a while with these two loads.

For hunting, a 200 gn Accubond is a solid performer.

BCBRAD have you tried the 200 barnes lrx?

What group size were you getting with the 200 gr accubond? was it the accubond long range?

I have not tried the 200gn Barnes.

The 200 gn Accubond was the regular one, the rifle will produce any load I tried under 1 moa.

This level of accuracy is very good for hunting under normal circumstances and extended ranges.

After ~300 yards , the need for ranging and dialing is there, so a bit higher BC doesn't really help in a real world situation.

The LR Accubond is reported to open up better at lower velocities, probably better at long range for that , say after 500 yards.

The Barnes mono-metal in 30 caliber, I don't go above 180gns as anything higher requires an 1:11 or greater twist rate, like a 10 twist .

Take a look at the Barnes 175gn LRX in your 11 twist.
