What would be the value of one of these in 300 Win Mag, in mint to LNIB condition? It is the older safari model on the AV action not the new one they made on the 75 action. Does anybody own one?
Thanks

I really liked those rifles, but never had the chance to have one. I don't know if that caliber would be my first choice in that particular rifle (I have nothing against the .300, I really like it). IIRC they came in .300 WM, .338 WM and .375 H&H. How much does the fellow want?

I justr bought an AV in 300 WIN, it was described accurately as excellent, it has an oil finished stock, pahmayr whiteline pad, I paid $800 plus hipping. I don't know if it's the Safari model though.

I just bought the same rifle with a leupold fixed power M8 6x42mm scope and control mounts.... paid $1k for it and well worth the money. ohh... mine is left hand too :)

What's IIRC ? The Safari also came with the floorplate release inside the triggergaurd if I'm not mistaken.

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly

These were expensive rifles. The MSRP was over US$2500 20 years ago.

Most of you are right about this rifles description, they were very expensive when they were available. This fellow wants $2100 for his and it looks unfired but I know that he did fire the gun. I don't have a pic but these are the features I noticed about it.
1. Drop Belly hinged Floorplate that holds 5 rounds, with release in the bow.
2. 25" barrel with express quarter rib w/1 folding and 1 standing leaf, the top of the rib is matted, barrel band for the sling, banded express front sight w/hood. All the metal is finished in a high gloss blue.
3. The stock is nicely figured walnut with a short forend like the classic british safari rifles, ebony forend tip and generally slim forend dimensions, wrap around checkering prhaps 20 or 22 lpi very well excecuted, red recoil pad 1".

Here is a link of a rifle that looks exactly like the old safari as far as I can remember the features are identical except that this new Sako model is built on the 75 action.
