I was checking out Sako's web site and the 85 Safari is now available in XL size - .416 Rigby, .450 Rigby and .500 Jeffrey...for $10,000.

It makes the CZ Safari Classic Express/Magnum Express seem like a steal!

I remember the older version from the 80's.
Beautiful rifles, very well made with great wood.
A friend has one he bought then in 375 H&H for $2500 around 1986.

My only complaint was magazine size, I think all magnum rifles of that caliber deserve a drop belly magazine to get that 4th round in there.

Those certainly were beautiful rifles. My Sako Safari is from the early 1980's. Was bribed into buying it by a dealer as someone left a down payment and never returned. Payed 1700 bucks...lots of $ those days. French walnut lumber, quarter rib express style in 338 Win Mag. Only shot one moose with it and a couple deer.
