A slide on base which weighs a once plus sleek talley rings....sooo ###y!!!! scope mounted as low as possible of course PM me for pics... This will make up ur mind!!The Leupold ringmounts slide right onto the Sako dovetails, look good, and work perfectly. They also allow you a bit more eye relief if you need it. The original Sako rings, as mentioned, are hard to find and actually are pretty ugly next to the Leupolds. Optilocks are the silliest option imaginable. You have a rifle with beautiful, well-designed integral dovetails machined right into the receiver...why on earth would you want to mount bases onto the dovetails, and then rings onto the bases?
How about on a hard kicking rifle? I bought an AV in 416 Rem Mag, upon test firing the scope with rings and all came flying back and hit me in the face then fell on the ground, upon inspecting I also noticed that the scope had slid in the rings as well and cut almost all the way through the scope body, the rings used were the optilocks with the little bases.
Will this setup hold up when properly torqued down or should I be looking at something else?
Classic!Optilock are my preference. If you can find Sako QD rings, which are rarer than a virgin in whore house, they are worth the extra coin.
First off,
POST A PIC OF YOUR RIG!!!!
This is a little off topic but does anyone know where to get rings that work with the Tikka M65 receiver? Is it the same as the Sako?
