Sako scope rings?

BrotherRockeye, are those medium sized rings in the picture above? I just bought a set off the EE and the lower ring saddle is just above the SAKO label --- I thought they were perhaps medium.

There is an even earlier style of the Sako rings where the rings are halved rather than 2/3rd --- I rarely see them in anything by low, which is often too low for modern 40mm scopes.

The Leupold ringmounts slide right onto the Sako dovetails, look good, and work perfectly. They also allow you a bit more eye relief if you need it. The original Sako rings, as mentioned, are hard to find and actually are pretty ugly next to the Leupolds. Optilocks are the silliest option imaginable. You have a rifle with beautiful, well-designed integral dovetails machined right into the receiver...why on earth would you want to mount bases onto the dovetails, and then rings onto the bases?

Would love to see a picture with the Leupolds. Do they come in the 30mm or just 1 inch. I hate the optilock base/ring combo because getting the rings squared to the bases is a PITB because of the screw located under the base itself. Might have to look at the optilock ring months especially since the use the insert. I don't like ring marks on my Swaro's. :(
Weirdest setup I've seen - I had a Sako 85 with Burris bases that had dovetail turn in on front and back.

yes they are medium rings. That is what I found was needed to mount a 40mm objective scope without troubles.

I like this style better than the other (I bought 2 sets for my L61R) as they are more streamlined and compact. The biggest thing to watch for is that some bone heads grind off the centering/recoil tab on the bottom side. Replacing the standard slot top screws with torx is a big plus as well.

Brother Rockeye, do you have a source that you can recommend for the torx screws for Sako ring mounts? Original Sako screws from the Canadian importer cost a few dollars EACH.
