Hi guys, posted this one on another forum but no luck yet. I have a pre-1980 sako .222 vixen that I am attempting to remove the iron sights from. My problem is with the front sight. I removed the sight guard and tapped the dovetail front sight out sideways, exposing the base. My problem is that the base has no visible screw (as with my newer model sako's). How do remove the base for the front sight from the barrel? Thanks very much, Campbery

You have a front sight that was soldered on...... possibly with silver solder, I can't remember.... there will be no blueing underneath.

Heat it enough to melt soft solder and try and get it off.... if that does not work you are going to have to heat the sight red hot to get it off.....
