I was lucky enough to draw a moose tag this year for the first time and am debating my options for which gun to use. My max distance i am comfortable shooting is 250 yards in perfect conditions, rests, no wind etc. Likely shots are anywhere from 20-200 depending on the spot.
My two options are a 300wm and i've got 180gr sako super hammerhead, book muzzle velocity of 2887 fps.
Second option is .308 165gr Nosler Accubonds listed at 2800 fps.
I know i'm splitting hairs here and both will get the job done but what are your thoughts?
Is the heavier bullet and extra 87 fps giving me a bit more of a margin of error? Will the reduced recoil of the .308 make me less flinchy and end up shooting better? Will the shorter/lighter .308 make more difference than anything else?
