Sako shows on their website two types of the Optilock scope mounts. One type where the Optilock rings attach to a mount that attaches to the receiver. The second type is just an Optilock ring that mounts directly to the Sako/Tikka receiver (looks like any weaver style ring). I haven't seen any of the second type in all my searching on the web and is stores.

Has anyone seen these? Are they available for Tikka rifles? The tikka.fi website is not entirely clear.

Thanks

The only optiloks I've ever used are the ones with the base that attaches to the dovetails on the receiver. They are excellent mounts, just heavy.

The only Optilock system available in Canada is the two part heavy base and ring system. In the USA the Tikka's come with an inexpensive aluminum ring and this may be what you have seen however the ring would not be interchangable between the Tikka (parallel rails) and the Sako (tapered rails and different dimensions from the front one to the back). There are other systems available for the Sako including Leupold (all in one ring mount...solid steel and quite strong), Burris (Slip on system that uses an opposing set screw against the receiver and then allows the use of standard Burris/Leupold rings that have a rear windage adjustment and front dovetail), Millet (that are made of steel and are an all in one ringmount...not as strong as the others and we usually only use this system in the lower caliber guns).

If you take a look at www.sako.fi click on "Optilock" on the top menu and then "Ringmounts" on the submenu below it.

I guess if they're not available in Canada, I'll probably go with Warne rings for the Tikka or I'll get the Burris Signature rings and mounts.

I just figured that if Tikka had these all in one "Ringmounts" to mount onto the Tikka rail, it might be worth it. However, buying the bases and rings at close to $200, its not really worth that extra $ when the others will do just a good.

Thanks alot for the help...

Jeff
